Adjusting the sails

“You can’t change the direction of the wind, but you can adjust your sails to reach your destination”

Never in my life before has this statement been so true. There’s a change in the air, and I’m not sure where it will take me (and that’s worrying, as a self confessed control freak!). But, they say, if you don’t take a chance you won’t make a change – so off I go on another of life’s mini adventures… Continue reading Adjusting the sails

The Versatile Blogger Award

When I started blogging at the beginning of January, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I wouldn’t say I’m a naturally gifted writer, but I had been compelled to start blogging for a long time – I just felt I had nothing of worth for people to listen to. So, fast forward a month, and I’m glad I took the plunge! I have found what I was looking for – a community! Like-minded, imperfect people, looking to better themselves! Act natural…

I hate photos of myself. It is a genuine issue that seems to plague me – I have a real problem with displaying a normal, non-gurny face in front of a camera. I much prefer to be behind the camera, calling the shots, so to speak*!

Anyway, my boss, being the wise and knowledgable soul she is, decided to put me up for a photo shoot for some of our business catalogues. This, made worse by the fact that it would only be me going. Needless to say, I was horrified and tried almost everything within my power to avoid said situation.

Insanity Fitness Test – Round 1

Today I did something that scared me – I tried the Insanity Fitness Test*. It hurt – a lot.

I’ve been meaning to get in shape for such a long time now, but my biggest problem is consistent exercising. It’s a combination of things really – time keeping, motivation and disturbed schedules. Perhaps one of my biggest problems though, is the fear of the unknown (or FOTU) as I’m going to call it.

New week, new tunes

So, it’s a new week! Hopefully you’re feeling as excited as me for a new week of workouts! We had a bit of a rubbish weekend, I won’t lie, so it’s time to get back on the wagon and get a groove on… Speaking of grooves, I’ve updated my iPod this morning with some new tunes to get me going in the gym, so I thought I’d share some of the songs I just cannot get out of my head. *WARNING* – the following songs may be ridiculously upbeat. Feet tapping may occur! Continue reading New week, new tunes

I don’t want to go to the gym today…

A lot of days I cannot be bothered at all to get my butt to the gym. It’s cold outside, there’ll be too many people there, I can’t find my favourite gym pants… The list goes on. Do you ever feel like it’s hard to motivate yourself sometimes?

So I thought I’d write down a few of the reasons I go, put pen to paper so to speak. Let me know if you relate!

No snooze, you definitely lose

So, over the last weekend, my OH and I made a deal – we need a curfew. So, effective last Sunday, we will be going to bed no later than 10:30pm.

As part of respecting our bodies, it’s imperative we get enough of those vital zzz’s in. Here’s a few reasons as to why, in case you forgot what your momma told you: Continue reading No snooze, you definitely lose

The best meal of my week

Last weekend, I said I’d post the chicken chow mein recipe that rocks my world. Well today, lovely people, is your lucky day! It’s a super simple, cheap and relatively low fat option, for when you really want some comfort food. It only takes 30 minutes, so get your apron on and start prepping!

The recipe is from a little book called Chicken: 100 everyday recipes – which we’ve had for a little while. It’s good for getting some inspiration from if you’re wanting some new ideas. You can purchase here, if you fancy.

Anyway, you’ve come for the food, so here it is:

My first workout: A lesson in self-confidence

Okay… not ever. But my first gym workout for 2015. Unsurprisingly, the gym was heaving – which meant people standing around like lemons, waiting for a spare piece of sweaty equipment. I’d be lying if I said it was a dream. All those bodies in a teeny tiny space, grunting, snorting and smelling (I kid you not – there were some corkers).
